It’s Your Attitude, Not Your Aptitude That Determines Your Altitude In Life!
I have the privilege of working with salesperson’s of ALL age groups and I find that the young people entering our great profession really need to read this! Life is like a roller coaster there are many ups and downs.
Unfortunately, in our society the young people carry tremendous burdens that I cannot say with any certainty were endured by previous generations. What I can say with certainty is that I was not exposed to these kinds of burdens such as family rape, no parents, physical and mental abuse, not to mention the complete lack of discipline in our schools, the prevalence of drugs and so on.
Having said that, back to the roller coaster. You young people have to let it go. You see, the highs and lows on the roller coaster are carbon copies of the highs and lows in life. The people that remain for long periods on the lows on the highway of life are focusing on the negative things that have happened to them. I see some of the smartest young people stuck in this rut. To get to the highs in life and stay there as long as possible you HAVE to focus on the positive things that are going on in your life.
Remember, we all have down times. I had a conversation with a young person the other day and made her write down all the bad things that were happening in her life. Then I made her write down all the good things that she could be thankful for. She visibly saw that as usual in life her life was an overwhelming 86% GOOD! She got caught up in focusing on the 24% that was BAD. Her life was a roller coaster with very short highs and very long lows. Hopefully this will change for this young person because she has tremendous potential not only as a salesperson but as a contributor to the human race. Remember, It is your attitude, not your aptitude that determines your altitude in life.
